About the business/Role:

Our client, a leading Yorkshire and Derbyshire law firm are looking to recruit a Senior HR Assistant. The HR function is vital to the business success, focusing on people planning and support. As Senior HR Assistant, you’ll collaborate closely with the HR Manager to ensure compliance with laws and policies, oversee day-to-day administration including payroll, and supervise a small HR team. Your responsibilities also include HR database management, recruitment, onboarding, payroll, benefits administration, and ensuring efficient people support service delivery.
 

  • Completion of Terms and Conditions of Employment and work letters
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines proactively
  • Understanding of employment practices and legislation
  • Highly organized and committed to policy adherence
  • Strong technical and analytical skills
  • Accurate recording and measurement of HR data
  • Maintenance of meticulous notes, records, and staff files
  • Compliance with department/company procedures and legal obligations.

Duties after training:

  • Provide full support to the HR Manager, wider HR colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Update and manage HR internal databases and systems.
  • Dealing with employee sickness (return to work meetings) and holidays records.
  • Assist with data collection of relevant items for monthly payrolling processes.
  • New starter onboarding process.
  • First Aider and Health & Safety representative.
  • Answer queries in person, over the telephone and via email.
  • Conduct exit/leavers interviews.
  • Meet legal obligations and perform tasks in line with Company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure continuous self-development in relation to good employment practice and key current employment legislation. 
  • Other HR related administration tasks.

To apply, you will be required to meet the following criteria:

  • 4 + years previous experience of working in a HR Assistant role as a minimum is preferred.
  • CIPD Level 3 Certificate in People Practice. Also, considering working towards Level 5 CIPD (external training to achieve formal qualification may be considered following probationary period, if not attained) is preferred.
  • The right to work in the UK is essential.
