Job Title: Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Compliance Officer

Salary from: £33,000 – £40,000 per annum, plus 28 days holiday plus stats
Company Overview: We are a well-established law firm based in Sheffield, with a robust reputation for excellent client service and strong community ties. They are seeking an experienced Anti-Money Laundering and Compliance Officer to ensure the firm operates within legal standards and in compliance with established policies.
Job Purpose: As an AML and Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the firm is compliant with all aspects of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations and wider compliance duties. The role includes developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive compliance program within the firm to ensure they meet the highest ethical standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop and oversee an effective framework for AML and compliance risks, ensuring all legal, regulatory requirements and internal policies are met.

Design, implement, and monitor robust AML and compliance policies and procedures across the firm.

Regularly review and update the firm’s risk assessments and AML policies to ensure they remain effective and compliant with current legislation.

Deliver and oversee the training of personnel in AML and compliance issues, ensuring the firm’s employees are well informed and competent in compliance matters.

Liaise with legal, regulatory, and professional bodies as necessary to ensure the firm’s ongoing compliance.

Conduct internal audits and risk assessments, followed by reports detailing findings, recommendations, and risk ratings.

Regularly report to the firm’s management team on ongoing compliance activities, issues, and emerging risks.

Handle any compliance inquiries or investigations, as required.
Qualifications and Experience:

Law degree or equivalent experience within a legal/compliance role.

At least three years of experience in AML and compliance within a law firm or related field.

Solid understanding of legal requirements and controls (e.g., Anti-Money Laundering, or AML).

Proven experience in risk management.

Excellent knowledge of reporting procedures and record keeping.
