About the business:
Our client are an established legal practice who are long-standing member of the Sheffield business community. Due to an expanding dispute resolution department, the firm are keen to hire an experienced legal assistant / paralegal to join the team, in order to service varied debt recovery matters.
Role responsibilities:
* Sending letters before action, drafting and issuing County Court Proceedings, conducting litigation including compiling and preparing evidence for hearings and enforcing County Court Judgments in compliance with Pre-Action Protocols, Civil Procedure Rules and the Company's internal procedures.
* You will deliver excellent levels of client service though the timely progression of cases and excellent technical and legal knowledge.
In addition, you will assist the Dispute Resolution team with the timely progression of dispute resolution cases through excellent client care and administrative assistance. This may include updating and/or chasing clients/defendants courts and other parties, collating court documents for applications and producing trial bundles. You will also be required to answer telephone calls and deal with queries where possible.
* You will be responsible for ensuring cases meet prescribed service level agreements. In addition, you will be focussed on achieving individual targets (file progression/shelf-life targets).
* You will Utilise the Company's in-house bespoke case management system in accordance with the Company's protocols ensuring that all relevant fields are completed so that accurate MI/reports can be generated
* You will also be responsible for ensuring that any complaints or other complex issues or Multi Track claims are referred to the fee earner or Manager as quickly as possible.
You may be required to perform any other duties and to work in any other areas as requested by the Company, if necessary, which may include other offices and those of clients.
Who are we looking for:
* Ideally a minimum of 1 years' experience in a debt management department, preferably having issued court proceedings before
* Strong, confident communicator who can successfully establish excellent working relationships with clients and external third parties
* Excellent client care skills along with excellent written and communication skills
* Keen to develop your knowledge and skills and have the motivation to assist on more complex dispute resolution matters
* Excellent time management and organisational skills, with a proven track record in meeting deadlines
* Highly organised and thorough with an ability to prioritise workload and take decisions commensurate to the role
* Expected to draft own documents in a timely manner
