Job Title: Criminal Solicitor
Location: Sheffield, UK
Salary: £32,000 - £48,000 per annum, plus out-of-hours bonus.

A well-established high street law firm located in Sheffield, specializing in criminal law is looking to add to their team. Their team of dedicated professionals is committed to providing the highest level of legal representation and advice to clients. We are currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled Criminal Solicitor to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in criminal law, be duty accredited, and possess excellent communication and advocacy skills.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Criminal Solicitor, your primary responsibilities will include:

  1. Advising and representing clients in criminal matters, including providing legal representation at police stations and court proceedings.
  2. Managing a diverse caseload, including conducting thorough research and analysis of case facts, legal issues, and relevant legislation.
  3. Drafting legal documents, including correspondence, witness statements, and pleadings.
  4. Conducting case preparation, including gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and liaising with the Crown Prosecution Service.
  5. Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with clients, colleagues, and other professionals within the criminal justice system.
  6. Representing clients in Magistrates' and Crown Courts, as well as other tribunals and appellate courts, as required.
  7. Ensuring compliance with regulatory and firm requirements, including maintaining accurate records and adhering to confidentiality protocols.
  8. Participating in the firm's out-of-hours rota and providing on-call support to clients as needed.
  9. Continuously updating legal knowledge and skills through professional development and training.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  1. A minimum of 2 years PQE in criminal law (candidates with more experience are also encouraged to apply).
  2. Duty Solicitor accreditation (preferred but not essential).
  3. A strong academic background, including a Law degree (LLB) or Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) and completion of the Legal Practice Course (LPC) or Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE).
  4. Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and advocacy skills, with the ability to effectively represent clients in various court settings.
  5. Excellent analytical, research, and drafting skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  6. A proactive and organized approach to managing caseloads and meeting deadlines.
  7. A commitment to the principles of client care, ethical practice, and the highest professional standards.
  8. A valid driving license and access to a vehicle, as travel to client meetings and court appearances may be required.
