Job Title: Criminal Solicitor
Location: Doncaster, South Yorkshire
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum + out of hours bonus
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Overview:
A well-established and highly-regarded regional law firm based in Doncaster is seeking an experienced and dynamic Criminal Solicitor to join their dedicated Criminal Defence team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious solicitor who is passionate about providing high-quality legal advice and representation to clients facing criminal charges.
Responsibilities:
- Represent clients at police stations, Magistrates' and Crown Courts, providing exceptional advice and advocacy services
- Manage a diverse caseload of criminal matters, including but not limited to: theft, assault, drug offences, fraud, public order offences, and motoring offences
- Liaise effectively with clients, witnesses, the police, the Crown Prosecution Service, and other relevant parties
- Prepare and review case documentation, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness
- Conduct research, draft legal documents, and prepare detailed case strategies
- Instruct and work collaboratively with barristers and other legal professionals as required
- Participate in the firm's out of hours rota, attending to clients as needed and earning an additional out of hours bonus
- Comply with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and procedures
- Contribute to the firm's growth and reputation through networking and business development activities
Requirements:
- Qualified Solicitor with a current practising certificate (2+ years PQE preferred)
- Demonstrable experience in criminal law, preferably within a regional or high-street law firm
- Higher Rights of Audience (Criminal) qualification desirable, but not essential
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills
- Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical abilities
- Ability to manage a diverse caseload effectively and work under pressure
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and keen attention to detail
- Commitment to providing exceptional client care and maintaining client confidentiality
- A team player, with the ability to work independently and take responsibility for cases
- Willingness to participate in the firm's out of hours rota
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
