If successful, you will perform the following role as a Costs Draftsperson
 

  • Preparation of Legal Aid bills for assessment by Legal Aid Agency in all types of Private and Public Family Law matters both under the fixed fee regime and those which escape the scheme and are billed on hourly rates.
  • Preparation of VHCC case plans and bills.
  • Preparation and submission of POA 1 claims for disbursements and on account of profit costs.
  • Allocation of Counsels fees under certificates.
  • Preparation and submission of monthly controlled work bills and reports.
  • Preparation and submission of applications to extend cost limits and prior authority for costs and disbursements Knowledge of Guideline Rates for Disbursements.
  • Liaison with other firms/professionals regarding LAA certificate details/billing and costs enquiries.
  • Advice and support to Fee Earners and Staff re LAA billing processes and procedures.
  • Preparation of private paid family law bills where needed.

  • Previous experience in Legal Costs.
  • Strong grasp of the CPR and cost processes.
  • Competence in CostsMaster or equivalent software.
  • Qualification as a Costs Lawyer is beneficial, though not essential.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work within a team.
