About the business:
CRA Legal are recruiting on behalf of a leading UK law firm, who are looking to hire into their award-winning organisation. Due to growth, our client is looking to recruit a clinical negligence paralegal.

Job Purpose:
You will be responsible for the conduct of legal claims arising from breaches of privacy and data protection law.
The processing of private and personal information occurs every day across the globe with the world becoming more reliant on technology. The importance of data protection cannot be understated; if personal data falls into the wrong hands, people can suffer harm. Data breaches can lead to fraud, identity theft, discrimination and, in some unfortunate situations, physical harm. In the most serious cases, it can lead to victims having to leave their employment or even their homes, as they are often the victims of past domestic violence and the data breach has led to them becoming discoverable by their perpetrator.
Some companies, individuals, healthcare professionals, local authorities and government agencies do not take data protection seriously enough and often cause harm to the individuals by incorrectly or inappropriately processing their personal and private information. In most cases, once a data breach has occurred, there is little that can be done to undo the situation, leaving those affected with only one option: to seek compensation for the wrong they have suffered.
This is where you step in!
There are three levels to the paralegal role: the conduct of pre-action fast-track work; the conduct of litigated fast-track work; and the conduct of multi-track work. You will be required to take all the necessary information to continually assess the prospects of the claim, prepare documents to progress the claim, and obtain evidence to assess the quantum of the claim. You will work with some of the leading barristers in this field and will often instruct regional chambers and the London bar.

You will be expected to maintain client communication, work toward key milestones and bring about the successful conclusion of our client's claim.

The role will typically involve:
* Managing our client's expectations and keeping our client regularly informed of the claim's progression;
* Preparing pre-action correspondence;
* Collating/reviewing liability documentation;
* Instructing Counsel for advice on liability and quantum;
* Attending Conferences;
* Taking witness statements;
* Advising our client of potential special damages claims, and collating and reviewing special damages documentation;
* Instructing medical experts and obtaining medical evidence in support of the claim;
* Arranging treatment;
* Reviewing and making offers;
* Preparing documents for the litigation process, such as Claim Forms, Particulars of Claim, Directions Questionnaires, Part 18 Requests, Applications and Listing Questionnaires;
* Following Court Directions;
* Preparing the claim for Trial;
* Conducting litigation, advocacy and dispute resolution;
* Attending Applications and Case Management Conferences; and
* Attending Trials.

Requisite skills:
* Excellent telephone manner;
* Excellent writing skills;
* Ability to research matters thoroughly;
* Highly organised;
* Hard-working;
* Motivated;
* Client management;
* A good understanding of data protection compliance and cybersecurity;
* A good understanding of the CPR and litigation; and
* A good understanding of Solicitor/Client retainers.

Scope for Progression:
For those with a desire to progress in their legal career, we can offer training programs to allow you to progress in the complexity of your paralegal role and, where appropriate, to qualify as a lawyer.
